In memory of Dr. Mohammad Sharifi

We are deeply saddened to inform our dear friends and colleagues of the death of another physician and veteran in the medical community of our country, Dr. Mohammad Sharifi.
He passed away today (Tuesday) in Tehran at NourAfshar Hospital. He was born in 1952 and was a graduate of Shahid Beheshti University.
Dr. Sharifi, the founder of the Association for the Study of Pain in Iran, has passed away from coronavirus.
The Association for the Study of Pain in Iran started its activities in 1995 after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Dr. Mohammad Sharifi and Ms. Lousia Jones. The association was recognized for its activities in Iran as a branch of the International Association of Pain (IASP).
Various activities in the field of training physicians included: teaching in field of pain management, holding international seminars, cooperation with various domestic and foreign universities, concluding memorandums of cooperation with international scientific centers, and publishing numerous books and articles. One of Dr. Mohammad Sharifi’s activities was his efforts and cooperation to send interested physicians to first-level training centers for pain fellowships in Germany and France.
He offered his office and his time for the pain management system in Iran.
He has left a great memory of himself and was a pioneer in pain management in Iran.
May his soul rest in peace and his memory cherished. His name and service will always remain in the minds and hearts of the people.
